What this is

WordPress maintenance services keep a live site updated, backed up, secure and fast for a fixed monthly fee. A care plan bundles that work with a set number of developer hours, so small jobs get done without a new quote every time. Some agencies call this WordPress support services. It is the same work under a different name.

Most sites do not break because WordPress is fragile. They break because nobody tested the update. If you are still deciding whether you need one, we wrote a plain guide on what a WordPress care plan covers. If you already know, the plans below start at $79 a month and are run by the same developers who maintain our own 26 plugins.

What is covered

What a WordPress care plan includes

Eight jobs that need doing every month on a live site. Skip any one of them long enough and it turns into an emergency.

Core, plugin and theme updates

We update on a staging copy first, check the pages that earn you money, then push live. No surprise white screens on a Friday.

Security hardening and monitoring

File change scans, login lockdown, and a check against known plugin flaws every week. If something looks wrong, you hear it from us first.

Off-site backups you can restore

Daily files and database, kept away from your host. We test a restore every quarter, because a backup nobody has restored is only a hope.

Uptime checks every minute

We watch the home page, the shop and the checkout. A store can stay up while checkout quietly breaks, so we test the money path too.

Speed kept in the green

Sites get slower as content grows. We recheck Core Web Vitals monthly and fix the drift before your rankings feel it.

Support hours you can spend

Every plan includes real developer time each month. Use it for edits, a new page, a plugin conflict, or a question you keep putting off.

A monthly report in plain words

What we updated, what we blocked, how fast the site is, and what we suggest next. One page, no jargon, no vanity charts.

Malware cleanup if it happens

On a plan, a hacked site is our problem, not a new invoice. We clean it, close the hole, and tell you how it got in.

How we work

What WordPress website maintenance looks like month to month

Three habits separate a plan that protects a site from one that only sends invoices. Need a one-off speed fix instead? See our WordPress speed optimization services.

Updates

Updates tested before your visitors see them

Most broken WordPress sites were broken by an update nobody tested. We keep a staging copy that matches live, apply every update there first, and click through the pages that earn you money before anything ships.

  • Core, plugin, theme and PHP updates
  • Checkout and forms tested after each round
  • Rolled back the same day if something slips
  • Nothing pushed live on a Friday afternoon

Backups

Backups we have restored, not just taken

A backup nobody has restored is a hope, not a backup. Yours run daily and live away from your host. A real restore test runs every quarter, so we know how long recovery takes before you need it.

  • Daily files and database, kept 30 days
  • Stored off your host, so a host failure cannot take both
  • A restore tested every quarter, with the time recorded
  • Yours to keep if you ever leave us

Reporting

A monthly report you can read in two minutes

Most maintenance reports are a wall of green ticks nobody opens. Yours says what we updated, what we blocked, how fast the site is, and the one thing we think you should fix next.

  • Written in plain words, not server logs
  • Core Web Vitals tracked month over month
  • One clear recommendation, not a list of twenty
  • Sent to anyone on your team you name

Monitoring

Someone watching while you sleep

Uptime checks run every minute from several countries. If your site stops answering, we hear about it before your customers do. Logins, core files and malware scans are watched on the same schedule.

  • Uptime checked every minute, day and night
  • Repeated failed logins blocked automatically
  • Core files compared against WordPress originals daily
  • Malware scans every week, not every quarter
  • You hear from us before you hear from a customer

Developer hours

Real developer hours, not a ticket queue

Every plan includes time from the same developers who build our plugins. Small jobs get done inside those hours. You send a message, a developer reads it, and the work happens.

  • Content edits, new sections and small features
  • Answered by a developer, not a support script
  • Unused hours roll over for one month
  • Anything bigger is quoted before work starts
  • You keep talking to the same person

Plans and pricing

WordPress care plan pricing

Most providers hide this until a sales call. Here are the real ranges. What moves you up a tier is support hours and how fast someone answers when money is on the line.

Essential care

Updates on staging, daily off-site backups, weekly security scans, uptime checks, and one hour of developer time each month. Right for a brochure site or a small blog.

$79 – $129 / mo

Growth care

Everything in Essential, plus monthly speed tuning, form and checkout testing, staging for every release, and three hours of developer time. Right for a busy site or a small store.

$179 – $299 / mo

Store care

Built for WooCommerce. Adds order and payment gateway checks, database cleanups, same-day response on anything blocking a sale, and six hours of developer time.

$349 – $599 / mo

One-off rescue

Site down, hacked, or stuck after a bad update? We fix it first and talk about a plan after. No plan needed to get help today.

From $149

Ranges depend on how many plugins you run and how busy the site is. A ten-plugin brochure site sits at the bottom; a store with subscriptions sits near the top. Send us the URL and we quote the real number.

Your first month

What happens after you sign up

Month one is heavier than the rest. We clear the backlog the last team left before the plan settles into a routine.

  1. 01

    Full site audit

We record every plugin, its version, and whether it is still maintained before we touch anything.

  2. 02

A staging copy that matches live

Every update is tested here first. You never find out about a break from a customer.

  3. 03

    Backups moved off your host

If the host goes down with your backups on it, you have nothing. So we store them elsewhere.

  4. 04

    The backlog cleared

Most sites arrive with months of pending updates and a few dead plugins. Month one clears that.

  5. 05

    A written recovery plan

Who to call, what to restore, and how long it takes. Agreed before you need it.

  6. 06

    Your own report schedule

Pick the day it lands and who else on your team gets a copy.

Security

WordPress security services, built into every plan

Almost every hacked WordPress site we clean was running a plugin with a known flaw and a patch already available. Security here is mostly patience, not clever tools.

Ask About Malware Cleanup
Known flaw checksYour plugin list is checked weekly against public vulnerability data.
Login hardeningRate limiting, two-factor for admins, and no default admin username.
File change alertsIf a core file changes and we did not change it, we look the same day.
Abandoned plugin sweepsAnything unmaintained for two years gets flagged with a replacement suggestion.
Malware removalCleanup, patch and a written cause report, included on every plan.
SSL and header checksCertificates renewed on time and the basic security headers kept in place.
Who it is for

Sites we look after

A care plan pays for itself the first time it stops a bad day. These are the site owners who feel that most.

WooCommerce stores

An hour of broken checkout costs more than a year of maintenance. We test the money path after every update.

Small businesses without an IT team

Nobody in the office wants to own the website. We become that person, for less than a part-time hire.

Agencies and freelancers

We run maintenance behind your brand so you keep the client relationship and stop doing update nights.

Membership and subscription sites

Renewals fail quietly. We watch the billing runs, not just whether the home page loads.

Content and publishing sites

Big archives get slow and heavy. Monthly database cleanups keep the editor usable and pages quick.

Sites another team left behind

Inherited a site with no notes and no logins? Month one is finding out exactly what you own.

Why DevDiggers

A WordPress support service run by developers

Maintenance is a boring promise, so most of it is sold on price. Here is what differs when the site goes down at 2am.

We maintain our own plugins too

We ship and support 26 WordPress and WooCommerce plugins used in 158+ countries. We know what a bad update does, because we test against it every release.

A developer answers, not a queue

Your message reaches the person who can fix it. No first-line script, no ticket that gets passed around for two days.

No lock-in and no long contract

Monthly, cancel whenever. If you leave, you keep the backups, the staging setup and the notes. Nothing is held hostage.

Store work is not an add-on

WooCommerce is what we build for. Orders, payment gateways, subscriptions and HPOS are day-to-day work here, not a special case.

You can read the report

One page a month in plain words. You always know what your money bought and what we think you should do next.

Hours roll over for two months

A quiet month should not punish you. Unused developer time stays available for the next two months, so you can save it for a bigger job.

How we compare

Doing it yourself, a plugin, or a care plan

Not every site needs a plan. Here is an honest look at the three options, including when the free route is enough.

Factor Do it yourself Automated tool DevDiggers care plan
Monthly cost Free, plus your time $15 – $50 $79 – $599
Updates tested first Rarely Auto-update, no testing On staging, every time
If an update breaks the site You debug it It rolls back, or it does not We fix it, same day
Who reads the alerts Nobody, usually You do A developer does

FAQ

WordPress maintenance questions

The things store owners ask before they sign up. Still unsure? Send the URL and we will tell you what the site needs.

Talk to a Developer

Mostly yes, and the different names cause a lot of confusion. Support usually means someone answers when something breaks. A care plan means someone is also preventing the break, through tested updates, off-site backups and monitoring. We do both under one monthly fee, so you are never paying twice.

A WordPress care plan is a monthly service that keeps a live site updated, backed up, secure and fast. It usually covers core and plugin updates, off-site backups, security scans, uptime checks and a set number of support hours. You pay a fixed fee instead of calling someone in a panic when something breaks.

Most plans in the market run between $50 and $500 a month. Ours start at $79 for a small site and reach $599 for a busy WooCommerce store. The gap is mostly support hours and how fast someone answers when a sale is blocked.

Host auto-updates apply the update. They do not check whether your checkout still works afterwards. That gap is where most broken stores come from. If your site only shows information, host updates may be enough. If it takes payments, someone should test the money path.

Everything in the standard plan, plus order and payment gateway testing after each update. We also run database cleanups as order tables grow. Anything blocking a sale gets a same-day response. Subscription and HPOS checks are included.

On a plan, cleanup is included at no extra cost. We take the site offline if needed, remove the malicious files, and restore a clean backup. Then we patch the way in and send you a short note on what happened. Not on a plan yet? We still take rescue jobs.

Yes. Plans are monthly with no lock-in. Cancel and you keep your backups, your staging setup and every note we wrote. We do not hold access or credentials to make leaving hard.

They carry for two months. Most providers reset them monthly, which quietly pushes you to spend time you do not need. Saving three quiet months for one bigger job is usually the better use.

Often. The first month is an audit and a cleanup: what is installed, what is abandoned, what is out of date. We tell you honestly if a rebuild would cost less than maintaining what is there.
